Prime Mover Driver
A ‘prime mover’ is a truck with a robust engine that can haul bulky loads on trailers for long distances and are also referred to as “heavy-duty trucks” or “trailer trucks”. A prime mover can tow up to 50 tons of using its strong pulling power. Every day, tens of thousands of containers are moved on and off vessels and through Singapore’s port terminals. Our prime mover drivers play a key support role in Singapore’s vibrant international trade, by driving the prime mover trucks to transport containers from the wharves to the yards, and vice versa.
Job Description
- Operate prime mover vehicles within Pasir Panjang Port Terminal
- Transport containers safely and efficiently within the terminal
- Ensure prime mover vehicle is in good working condition, and to send for servicing when needed
- Free training, “ISC in Prime Mover Container Operations Course” conducted by PSA Institute, will be provided
- Training allowance will be provided
- On-job-training will be provided
- Monthly gross salary up to S$ 4,400
- Location: Pasir Panjang Port Terminal
Job Requirements
- No experience needed
- A pass in PSLE English. Otherwise, you will be required to pass an English Assessment Test conducted by PSA Institute
- Singapore Class 3 driving license preferred
- Physically fit and not colour blind
- 12-hour shift work arrangements

Career Prospects

Lashing Specialist
When containers are loaded onto ships, they are secured to the ship’s structure and to the container placed below it with equipment such as lashing rods, turnbuckles, twist-locks etc. This prevents the containers from moving from their places or falling into the sea during rough weather or heavy wind. This lashing operation is also known as stevedoring. Our lashing specialists work in small teams to berth and unberth vessels and to ensure containers are safely secured onboard before the ships set sail. They play a key support role to ensure goods and commodities are safely delivered to their destination.

- Perform water bunkering operations

Reefer Technician
Do you know that chilled and frozen products are transported in refrigerated containers called “reefer containers”? Our reefer technicians consist of “plug-and-unplug” specialists and “monitoring” specialists. Both positions play vital roles to maintain the freshness of these products, by ensuring that the reefer containers are properly plugged in to electrical sources at the port terminal, or monitoring the “vital statistics” of the reefer containers, to ensure that they are maintained at the correct temperature

- Conduct plug and unplug of reefer containers (chiller/ freezer)
- Check reefer container temperature
